How does the course work?
Proofreading PDFs: A Complete Guide for Editors has four units. Across the units there are exercises, example answers, and quizzes for self-assessment. Completion of the final exercise leads to your completion certificate being issued.
About the author(s)
Christina Thomas has previously developed and delivered courses for the PTC and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and bespoke courses for clients including Westminster City Council and the Singapore Book Council.
She developed the PTC’s Introduction to Editorial Skills, Progress in Editorial Skills and Editorial Skills for Business (now Editorial Skills for All), and was a tutor on the distance learning course Basic Proofreading (now Essential Proofreading) for 10 years.
Her editorial experience includes traditional book publishing, websites and corporate literature, consultancy on house style documents and devising editorial tests. She is author of the CIEP guide Your House Style.
Since 1999, Sarah Sodhi has proofed, tagged, bound, corrected, edited, managed, commissioned, subbed, scheduled, estimated and produced a great deal of content – from interactive, multi-media resources to marketing leaflets, and monthly magazines to 900-page medical tomes.
Starting her career at a small medical publisher in Oxford, she then moved into the public sector to work for an adult education charity. Now she edits and manages digital and print resources for primary, secondary and adult education publishers.
Sarah is the tutor of the PTC’s Editorial Project Management and How to Mark Up PDFs with Adobe Acrobat, and one of a team of tutors for Introduction to Editorial Skills and Progress in Editorial Skills.
