inclusion webinar

The Publishing Training Centre is delighted to present Next Steps in Inclusion, a webinar that takes a closer look at why the children’s – and wider – publishing industry isn’t done with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). It will look at the steps we need to take next to ensure that inclusion is truly embedded in the publishing process.

This 90-minute session will address how inclusion goes far beyond representation and what you can do to make any book you work on more inclusive. The presentation will be followed by questions, with debate and participation actively encouraged.

The speaker will cover:

  • What messages books are giving beyond representation
  • How true inclusion is more than just featuring diverse characters
  • How to manage the fear of getting it wrong
  • Practical ways to embed inclusion
  • Current initiatives and opportunities for collaboration

Who is it for?

  • Those working in editorial, marketing, production and sales who want to know what they can do about making their products and messaging more inclusive
  • Anyone with an interest in inclusion and improving their company or organisation’s output
  • Champions of editorial inclusion within organisations
  • Freelancers working with publishers and other organisations who need to know about best practice and how best to apply it

Whilst the session will be delivered from the perspective of children’s publishing, much of the learnings will be transferable across other types of content. Wherever you and your organisation are on your inclusion journey, this webinar will be of interest to you.
