Nancy Duin

Nancy Duin is a freelance copywriter, content strategist, editor and trainer. Initially working for book publishers, she later expanded her repertoire to structuring, writing and editing websites on a wide range of subjects for television companies, businesses, and government agencies and departments. Her clients include:

• Channel 4 Television – she was an editorial consultant for almost two decades, editing and writing both print publications and websites, and editor of the Channel 4 History website for seven years
• Department for International Development – she was closely involved in the redevelopment of the DFID website, and produced an email newsletter to all overseas communications staff
• BeGrand.net – she was deputy managing editor of this government-funded 'website for grandparents'.

In addition, in 2000 she co-created – with Sue Davis – the PTC's Writing and Editing for the Web course, one of the first of its kind in the UK, and has helped tutor it up until 2016. She has also created a web editorial skills course for the University of the Arts London and co-created another for the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (she was the society's internet director for eight years).

Nancy and Sue Davis have formed a partnership as The Thing Itself. Through this, they have given presentations on content strategy to the staff and clients of Cypres, a communications agency in the Belgian city of Leuven.

Born in the US, Nancy has lived in London for many years.
