Jill Cornish

Jill Cornish is a freelance publishing consultant based in Oxford. She has over 30 years’ experience of working in the publishing industry. She began her career in Hong Kong, simplifying classic texts for English language learners, before moving to Oxford University Press Hong Kong where she was an editor on the English Language Teaching list. Returning to the UK in 1997, she worked at Collins Education as publishing manager for their Primary Literacy list before joining the UK Schools team at Oxford University Press (this time in Oxford) where she was Editorial Director for Primary Maths, Science and Foundation subjects.

Jill went freelance in 2021, working with clients ranging from small non-profits to global companies. Alongside this, she tutors students on the Publishing Training Centre’s Essential Copy-Editing distance-learning course. In her spare time, Jill likes to run by the canal, potter in her allotment and visit her local independent cinema.
