Writing for the Web: Gain tips and tricks to improve our digital output

Becca ParkinsonI really didn’t know what to expect from this course, having never undertaken a publishing training course before, but I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the group (11) and the variety of other delegate’s backgrounds - I was in fact in the minority coming from a publishing house.

It was fascinating to see how different sectors approached writing for the web, and brilliant tutor Sue Davis adapted her content to suit everyone, answering all our questions with ease. The programme was packed with interesting topics and thought-provoking exercises, and it was fun to work in groups and bounce ideas off each other.

I was slightly concerned that we would just cover things I already knew or that I’d be completely out of my depth, and that either way I might be wasting my time (and money). My reaction at the end of the day couldn’t have been further from this; I felt reaffirmed in my existing skills, but loaded with new ones too.

I was so motivated when I got back to the office the following day and raring to improve the way things were done. I gained tips and tricks I can share with my colleagues that I believe will help improve our digital output, but also I think will also assist me personally going forward in my career. Thanks to the PTC, fantastic Sue, and all the lovely, encouraging people I met on my course!
