February and March 2016 at the PTC

The winter programme of Short Courses has 19 individual courses commencing with Editorial Project Management on February 1 & 2 and concluding with Content Strategy for the Web on March 23rd. The programme amounts to 28 days of training and affords the opportunity for up 238 delegates to fine tune their skills and improve business performance.

Three highlights are

Introduction to Editorial Skills – a two-day course starting February 4

Publishing in the Digital Age - a three-day course starting on February 29

  • apply project management processes
  • recognise the steps involved in the development of digital products
  • ensure that teams contain the right mix of skills to gain a competitive advantage.

 

Commissioning and List Management – a four-day residential course starting March 14

The definitive course for commissioning editors in educational, academic or professional publishing who want to build profitable lists. If you're an editor with responsibility for acquisitions and list-building in educational, academic or professional publishing, this unique programme – an intensive residential course – will give you the best possible start.

 

Discretionary Discounts

Discounts for students, recent graduates who have yet to find work and staff who have been made redundant

If…

  • you are a student in full time higher education, or
  • you left higher education fewer than six months ago and are currently unemployed, or
  • you have recently been made redundant from your job and are currently unemployed (or are serving out your notice),

… then we may be able to offer you 50% off selected short courses. Please note that we may offer a different discount, based on your personal circumstances.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, then:

  • Browse our short courses to find the course and date you’re interested in.
  • Book using the enrolment form on the relevant web page. At the bottom of the form there is a text box where you can request a disretionary discount.
  • PTC may contact you for supporting evidence to show you fit the criteria for the 50% discount.
  • Once the booking is confirmed we will then send you joining instructions and an invoice around four weeks before the course start date.

If you would like to take advantage of this scheme, we will ask you to prove that you fit the necessary criteria. Depending on the category you fall into, this could be:

Students

  • Details of the institution at which you’re studying and the course you’re taking.
  • A declaration from a tutor or other member of college staff able to verify this information.

Unemployed graduates

  • Details of the institution at which you studied, the course you took and the date you left.
  • Evidence that you’re currently unemployed (e.g. that you’re claiming benefit).

Staff who have been made redundant

  • Evidence of redundancy (e.g. copy of letter or P45).
  • If you’re not working your notice, evidence that you’re currently unemployed (e.g. that you’re claiming benefit).

Conditions

  • Any discounts offered under this scheme are offered entirely at the discretion of the Publishing Training Centre.
  • The Publishing Training Centre reserves the right to revise or withdraw this discount scheme at any time.
  • The discount of 50% only applies to selected courses, and cannot be applied to our residential courses.
  • This discount may not be used in conjunction with any other discounts or vouchers offered by the Publishing Training Centre.
  • Bookings made under this scheme cannot normally be transferred to alternative dates.
  • Once you have confirmed your booking, our normal cancellation charges apply. These are: cancelled more than 4 weeks before the course – no charge; cancelled between 1 and 4 weeks before the course – 50% of full course fee; cancelled within 5 working days of the course – 100% of full course fee.
  • Occasionally, owing to circumstances beyond our control, we may have to cancel a course. If this happens, we will refund your fee*.

* or the fee you paid, if this was less than the full price.

The following discounts only apply to the virtual courses with bookings starting from £155. There are no discounts available for our distance learning and online programmes.

Please ask for your discount when you book as discounts cannot be given retrospectively.

Introduction to Digital Project Management and Advanced Digital Project Management

Get 30% off the full price of Advanced Digital Project Management when booking both courses at the same time. If you have already taken Introduction to Digital Project Management, you can receive £100 off the full price of Advanced Digital Project Management.

Charity discount

Get 10% off short course bookings if your organisation is a registered charity.

New Recruit discount

If, when you confirm your booking, (a) you've been working in a publishing company for six months or less and (b) this is your first publishing job, you can get 10% off your short course booking.

Not to be used in conjunction with any of our other discount plans.

Team discount

Book more than one person from your organisation on the same short course, on the same date, and you can benefit from our team discount plan:

  • 10% discount for 2nd and 3rd delegates
  • 15% discount for 4th delegate.

All team members must be booked at the same time to qualify.

Small Business discount

To help small businesses, we offer a standard 10% discount on each short course booking. Small businesses are considered to be those with 20 or fewer employees and which have their own cost centre.

Discount for freelancers

If you work on a freelance or independent basis, and are funding your training yourself, you can claim a 10% discount on any of our short courses.
