Are you an editor or publisher who has been tasked with mining your backlist, and turning existing or new titles into a digital platform or product? Or perhaps you are launching a new digital offering, and aren’t sure where to start? Do you need to understand and learn more about how producing an online interface differs from making a print or e-book? If so, Introduction to Digital Project Management is for you. It looks at all aspects of digital project management and will give you the understanding to take on and run projects of your own.
Digital project management is challenging. This course breaks down each stage of a digital project, from planning and scoping through to delivery to your end-user. It considers how you can adapt your existing skills to work successfully as part of a team delivering digital projects. It will also equip you with the terminology and confidence needed to put these skills into practice. You’ll learn how to become an efficient and effective team player, and gain advice on how to manage suppliers and staff, budgets and schedules.
Each of the course’s two sessions combines knowledge acquisition with how to apply this knowledge to achieve results. There will be opportunities for group discussion, with examples of best practice underpinning what you learn. The course will use real-life case studies of recent projects throughout, and will provide you with sample documentation and templates for future reference and use.
The course is for publishing staff who are new to project management or publishing, or those who are taking on digital projects. It is useful for staff who want an overview of digital project management, but are not themselves DPMs. This includes but is not limited to:
